Dear Member

With the general election just two weeks away, we are asking all Angling Trust members to get behind our Manifesto for Angling which calls on those politicians seeking our votes to commit to clean up our rivers, protect our fishing, recognise the importance of sea angling to coastal communities and promote the benefits of angling.

Our manifesto, Vote for a Fishing Future,

https://mail.anglingtrust.net/c/AQjyyBUQ3O8LGPGM1QMgpsviAbkYixhDueWQKoq7tEttTqan0JGt-leDNWHj2m6t88Ra

sets out the actions the next government must take in a 10-point plan. Please take a few moments to read it and feel free to share it with your fishing friends.

It would be really helpful if you could find five minutes to lobby your local candidates on their attitudes to fishing and ask them what they are going to do to support angling. Tell them about Vote for a Fishing Future and ask them to write back to you confirming their support.

You can find out who your local candidates are, and how to contact them, via the ‘Who Can I Vote For’ website. Just enter your postcode and the details will come up.

We’ve produced a handy template letter for you to use which you can cut and paste, { https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/… } but do add in some of your own experiences and details as that will make it even more powerful. And don’t forget to add your contact details, so they know you are one of their voters.

We’d love to hear about any responses you get so do let us know who might be friends of fishing in the next Parliament.

Whoever is in government, our job is to keep on fighting for angling. Your support at this time would be much appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Jamie Cook,

Angling Trust CEO
