Longmoor Lake Fishing Update: Positive Impact of Drier Weather

The drier and sunnier weather has also had a positive impact over at Longmoor Lake [Whittlesford]. The water levels, whilst still higher than usual, have fallen significantly and all of the pegs are fishable, though some are still a bit boggy in places, so wellies are recommended. The rogue swan that had taken up residence on the Golf Tee peg seems to have, erm…. swaned off.

The banks are drying out nicely and the path is usable right the way around the lake, with just a few damp patches. In addition, most of the newly turfed areas seem to have taken and are seemingly thriving. Some of the seeded areas have a bit of catching-up to do.

In addition most of the piles of silt seem to have drained and Mother Nature is doing her bit to ‘re-wild’ them. The weed is still growing, but is being actively managed by the on-going work parties. Some levelling off of the banks still needs to be done, but the huge efforts of Tony, Alan and the team of volunteers are paying off. The Club is very grateful to you all.

Perhaps more importantly, the lake is fishing well with some stunning carp being caught. As well as these, some specimen tench and bream have been bagged recently. Some pictures appear below. Thanks to Tony Holmes, Shane Gillet and Paul Robinson for sharing them.

Please update us with any catches you make Any pictures will be very welcome for future updates.
