Overall result: Bishops Stortford AC – 75 points Safron Walden AC – 61 points
We fished the first of our four matches planned for this year against Bishops Stortford. Well done to them for a solid win.
Very hot conditions made it hard work, and whilst the pegs were evenly spaced around the lake, some areas were hotter than others, from a catching perspective.

1..Rob Calderon of BS on Peg 25 – 70lb 02oz
2..Peter Jordan of SWAC on Peg 26 – 66lb 00oz
3.. Craig Henderson of SWAC on Peg 23 – 58lb 14oz
So although the club managed two of the top three spots, our back up weights held us back a little. Peter and Craig did especially well as it was the first time at the venue for both of them. In addition, Brian Newman won his section from Peg 12 with 34lb 02oz. Graham Carter ended up fishing for free with the bonus pay-out of £5 for the ‘wooden spoon’.
Special mention should be made of Fred Hunt and Peter Mottram who worked hard immediatly after the match to free a tethered Rudd that was hung up on one of the anti-bird ropes from the previous day.
The return leg at Bordeaux is on Wenesday 24th July .
