Whilst skillfully dodging some hefty thunderstorms, the inter-club match against the Jolly Boys Match Group proved to be a bit of a thumping for SWAC. The Jolly Boys ran out with 46 points, to our 90, beating us by 54 points. It sounds like a basketball score….
1. Alan Gallagher [JBMG] – Peg 1 146lb 05oz
2. Roger Phillips [JBMG] – Peg 7 120lb 15oz
3. Charlie Heavingham [JBMG] – Peg 5 90lb 15oz
Craig Henderson was our best placed with 6th in Peg 14 with 50lb 10oz.
We did manage to win two of the sections, with Brian Mizon and John Millard being successful. All the sections produced a range of weights, so the lake made sure that there were no real hot-spots.
Jolly Boys lent us two of their members to make up a full team after their planned match on the Small Lake fell foul of a couple of late unavoidable drop-outs.
Many thanks to Tracey at Jolly Boys ‘HQ’ for doing so much to help this event take place. Fred is hoping to invite the JBMG to an inter-club match at Bordeaux later in the year.
