Silvers – Peter Mottram [SWAC] 5lb 02oz

A successful day for Saffron Walden AC, taking the top three places, and the Silvers crown to run out convincing winners 67 – 38, taking revenge for our beating at Hall Farm a few weeks back.

The bumper weights reflect the fact that for this match, carp were counted at their actual weight, rather than the notional 2lb.

Craig Henderson continued his good form, running out the winner, though at a cost of the top three sections of his pole, courtesy of a bullying carp in peg 10. Graham Carter only weighed in carp for his 32lb 02oz in peg 35, whilst Brian Newman had three carp for 22lb 02 oz, as well as 4lb of silvers from peg 33. Foutrth placed Brian Beeston had just two carp and no silvers for his 18lb 00oz from peg 25.

Peter Mottram’s silvers victory was achieved with the assistance of an approx 3lb tench in his bag of 5lb 02oz from peg 4.

Thanks are due to BS&DAS for providing the additional scales to enable carp to be weighed in situ . The process worked well and will no doubt be repeated at the next home match, due in September.

The next match against BS&DAS is on Wednesday 24th August, at their Beggar’s Hall fishery.
