The change to very autumnal conditions, with a blustery NW wind, heavy rain showers and an inch or so of cold water falling into the lake over the previous couple of days, all combined to make for a hard match as we entertained our friends from Bishops Stortford for the final inter-club match of the year.
Saffron Walden ran out as winners in what was a close contest by 42 points to 38.
Fred Hunt fished a Captain’s match, leading from the front to take first place for SWAC with two Carp and two F1’s all on bread punch, for 28lb 08oz in Peg 36. Rob Calderon, who will be taking over as the BSDAS Captain from Phil Whitmill in the new year also led his team with second place from peg 2 with 17lb 15oz
Peter Mottram, with 14lb 00oz of Carp took 3rd place for SWAC out of peg 16, with Barry Cornel completing the frame with fourth for BSDAS with 10lb 03oz from peg 26.
The Silvers’ ‘match within a match’ produced a dead heat between SWAC anglers Brian Newman [Peg 28] and Clive Bradford [Peg 33], both with 4lb 10oz.
The full results sheet is below for those of you who like all the details.
Well done to all who fished well in difficult circumstances.
The next Club match is also at Bordeaux, this Sunday [15th September]. As we only have nine booked in, Fred has decided that the match on will only fish half the lake, from the Car Park end. Pegs 10 to 24, around the island will be open to casual anglers.
