MATCH RESULT Bordeaux Pit

Sunday 15th September

First: Fred Hunt [Peg 5] 6lb 12oz

Second = Craig Henderson [Peg 36] 6lb 03oz

Second = Clive Bradford [Peg 33] 6lb 03oz

Fourth: Peter Feestone [Peg 2] 6lb 02oz

Today’s match at Bordeaux saw nine anglers do battle. We had expected ten, but sadly Brian Mizon had to contend with some family illness and had to bail out. We all hope everything gets sorted out very quickly Brian!

As you can see, it was a VERY close match, with the four framers separated by just ten ounces. The results were skewed a bit by the counting of the carp that were landed at a notional 2lb each. Analysis of the results sheet [below] will make that clearer.

Fred Hunt ran out the outright winner in spite of having only 12 ounces of silvers in his net, but this was boosted by his three [notional] 2lb carp from peg 5. Our esteemed Match Secretary pointed out that ‘he fished according to his peg!’

Craig Henderson and Clive Bradford tied for second place on 6lb 03oz from pegs 36 and 33 respectively. Craig banked a decent F1 and a solitary notional carp, whilst Clive was boosted by two notional carp. He would have won outright if he had landed the carp he hooked just prior to the final whistle, but sadly it evaded being landed.

Peter Feestone completed the frame with a very solid net of 6lb 02oz of silvers plus a nice perch from peg 2.

At no expense whatsoever, the Club’s roving reporter was at Bordeaux today, so we have a mixture of ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures below.

Some of our participants were definitely happier ‘before’, rather than ‘after’. Your intrepid reporter put the mockers on Peter Mottram by yacking to him whilst he was attempting [unsuccessfully] to land what would have been his best fish of the day.

Dennis Gowlett engaged [unsuccessfully] with four carp, one of which cost him a broken top-kit. Dennis mused that he would have been better off going to the beer festival he had helped set up for the day. He did not weigh in at the end, but this was more to do with him zipping off to replace the broken lock on the gate. Good job Dennis!

The next Club match is a bit of a special event, being held at Long Pond in Clare on Sunday 29th September. See the separate Facebook post for details and to sign up. It is likely to be a popular event, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.

The next ‘knock-up’ at Bordeaux is planned for Tuesday 24th September.
