MATCH RESULT ROCKELL’S FARM – Duddenhoe End

FIRST CLUB MATCH – 2025

Sunday 23rd February

Rockell’s Farm – Duddenoe End.

RESULT

1st. Mark Roscoe [Peg 24] 90lb 00oz

2nd. Daniel Storey [Peg 17] 83lb 05oz

3rd. Brian Mizon [Peg 18] 36lb 07oz

A limited turnout for the first Club Match of the year was depleted further by Clive Bradford calling off sick, and another no-show. So we ended up with just seven fishing in bright but very breezy conditions. The threatened rain held off until after dark.

On arrival the lads found a large tree had fallen into, and half way across, the lake between pegs 22 and 23, removing them from the reckoning for the day.

Mark Roscoe, in peg 24, fishing towards the newly arrived feature and was rewarded as the clear winner, catching steadily throughout and finishing with an impressive bag of 90lb 00oz.

Daniel Storey ran him pretty close from peg 18 with 83lb 05oz, again catching steadily through the day. Brian Mizon, next door in peg 18 completed the frame in third place with 36lb 07oz.

The other pegs seemed to switch on and off at different times, making fishing more difficult. Pleasingly though, given recent results seen elsewhere, no-one blanked. The full results sheet is in the gallery below, along with pictures of the wind-chilled competitors. Peter Mottram must have ticked the [virtual] no publicity box, as his photo seems to have gone AWOL – sorry Peter!

The next Club Match is on Sunday 16th March at Goldstone’s Lakes – Ashdon. It would be good if we could pull together a reasonable turnout to give the venue a proper testing out after recent abandonments. The post to sign-up on will appear next weekend on the Facebook Page, giving two weeks notice as usual.
