MATCH RESULT – Home Farm [Little Walden] Small Lake

Sunday 23rd March

Just like London Busses; they come along in pairs – another match to report on this week and, once again, the lack of pictures of fish, gives a clue as to how things went.

The day started out unexpectedly damp and never really dried up. Fortunately our intrepid band were able to park by their pegs which always makes things a bit easier.

Results:

1st. Steve Bishop [Peg 10] 12lb 06oz

2nd. Dennis Gowlett [Peg 7] 11lb 09oz

3rd. Barry Dickerson [Peg1] 11lb 04oz

4th. Mark Mifsud [Peg 6] 8lb 08oz

5th Brian Mizon [Peg 4] 5lb 01oz

True to form for the Small Lake, the vast majority of the fish were caught in the last 45 minutes or so….. A tight finish at the top of the frame saw Steve Bishop, who was last to sign up for the match run out on top, landing five Carp for 12lb 06oz from peg 10, by the car park. He pipped Dennis Gowlett, who lost a Carp late on, into second place on 11lb 09oz. Barry Dickerson was third in peg 1 with 11lb 04oz made up of four Carp.

Mark Mifsud with 8lb 08oz in peg 6, and Brian Mizon with 5lb 01oz in peg 4 filled the minor placings. Once again, due to Fred’s ‘[nearly] everyone’s a winner’ payout policy, half of those taking part got at least their petrol money back.

The final weigh-in took place in persistent drizzle, with the result that no-one wanted to faff around taking pictures, so there is a map of the peg positions included with the results sheet. The peg-placings don’t look quite right, but it is lifted from the Home Farm website…..

Our next Club Match is in three weeks [Sunday 13th April] and is at Long Pond – Clare.

This is always a popular venue, so watch out for the invitation post, which will appear next weekend on our Facebook page, and be sure to sign up early to avoid disappointment 🎣🎣
