Bordeaux Bonanza!

Word has been that, in common with many local waters, Bordeaux has been a bit in the doldrums for much of this odd Spring that we have had.

Recent signs that things might be on an upturn were given a big boost by two of our younger members, who enjoyed a bumper session at the lake this weekend. Good friends Beau and Jacob put all of the older hands to shame as the pictures below show.

They bagged one of the ‘target fish’ – ‘The Reeve’ – only the second time it has been caught since being put in the lake. Tipping the scales now at 23lb, it has added three pounds in three months. Even allowing for ‘scales rounding’, this is an exceptional weight gain, possibly partially explained by currently carrying some spawn?

Not content with landing the biggest fish in the lake, the lads also snared six other great looking carp, a hefty F1 and a lovely 4 1/2 lb tench.

A dream session in anyone’s book – and great to see proper equipment and fish handling, as well as great photos. Well done lads – great angling.
