Wednesday 25th June:
AWAY to Bishops Stortford and District Angling Society [BSDAS]
at Beggar’s Hall
[Apologies for the delay – we had to wait for details from our ‘foreign correspondent’ – does Bishops Stortford count as ‘foreign’?]
We were AWAY for the first round of our 2025 four-match series against BSDAS. It was a hot and humid day at Beggar’s Hall and the home team triumphed by 58 points to our 47.
Individual placings:
1st Rob Calderon [BSDAS] Peg 18 80lb 05oz
2nd John Carter [BSDAS] Peg 12 64lb 08oz
3rd Steve Foster [BSDAS] Peg 22 51lb 10oz
4th Fred Hunt [SWAC] Peg 17 48lb 03oz
5th Mark Evans [SWAC] peg 3 36lb 12oz
BSDAS took full advantage of their home knowledge to take the top three spots. Our team of seven struggled to make headway against th nine from BSDAS, even though only their top seven counted.
The story may have been different if Fred Hunt hadn’t lost the first six carp that he hooked, but that is the way it goes sometimes.
We can only hope for better things from the return leg at Bordeaux on Wednesday 23rd July, when hopefully we can at least field a full team.
The full results sheet is below. There are only a few pictures as our usual photographer was not around.
The next Club match is on Sunday 6th July at Home Farm – Little Walden, on the Small Lake. This is already fully subscribed.
