Sunday 20th July
Rockell’s Farm – Duddenoe End
Today saw us set off a little further to our not quite so near neighbours at Rockell’s Farm. With ten fishing we made use of just half the lake.
As with almost everywhere at the moment, the water level was very low – only 15 inches in some places. The weather conditions changed constantly with the guys enduring three pretty heavy downpours with some squally wind at times.
RESULTS:
1st. Mark Evans [Peg 18] 75lb 10oz
2nd. Mark Mifsud [Peg 16] 61lb 10oz
3rd. Pip Kerry [Peg 25] 50lb 05oz
4th. Dennis Gowlett [Peg 17] 42lb 15oz
The clear winner was Mark Evans with 75lb 10oz from peg 18, where he was able to engage with some of the lake’s larger fish, right from the outset. Mark Mifsud, next door in peg 16 was also able to land some bigger fish in his 61lb 10oz.
Pip Kerry, along by the island was able to split the ‘framers’ row’ from peg 25 where he was on almost a fish a chuck using the method for his 50lb 05oz. He travelled light today, not even bothering with a brolly, and it clearly paid off. Dennis Gowlett completed the frame with 42lb 15oz from peg 17, again taking advantage of some of the bigger fish.
In spite of the best efforts of the weather everyone enjoyed the day and it was good to see no dreaded ‘DNW’s’ for the first time for a while.
Fred Hunt supplied our pictures, and wanted to thank Mark Evans and Peter Mottram for their help during the weigh-in. The results sheet is shown below as usual…..
The next match is our HOME inter-Club match against Bishops Stortford at Bordeaux on Wednesday 23rd July.
The whole of the Main Lake will be used for this match, but thankfully, the Small Lake has recovered and is once again available for members to fish.
