Wednesday 20th August
INTER-CLUB V’S BISHOPS STORTFORD
AND DISTRICT ANGLING SOCIETY [BSDAS]
Away leg – at Hall Farm
We were at AWAY for the third round of our 2025 four-match series against BSDAS.
It was a breezy and overcast day at Hall Farm with conditions feeling much more comfortable than in the recent heat. Whilst it appeared difficult for some, other pegs fished well with some decent fish and good weights appearing.
We put in a better performance than at the home leg, but BSDAS still ran out as winners by 73 points to our 63. They take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series as a result.
Individual placings:
1st Fred Hunt [SWAC} Peg 26 64lb 03oz
2nd Brian Mizon [SWAC] Peg 4 39lb 07oz
3rd Graham Carter [SWAC] Peg 2 32lb 12oz
4th Jeff Pearson [BSDAS} Peg 1 26lb 09oz
We took the top three places, but sadly, we also took the bottom three as well so, once again, our back-up weights let us down.
The story of the day though has to be that of Fred Hunt, who like some latter-day Lazarus, rose up from his sick bed [in Addenbrookes] to come out as clear winner on the day with some cracking fish for a bumper 64lb 03oz.
He drew the much fancied ‘hot peg’ – 26 and in spite of missing the first fifteen minutes by being in the Portaloo, dealing with some paperwork, he never really looked back, banking two decent carp before anyone else had a bite.
Brian Mizon on peg 4 on the low bank fished well for second place with 39lb 07oz, whilst Graham Carter, two pegs down on peg 2 also had a decent net full with 32lb 12oz for a good third place, 6lb ahead of BSDAS’s Jeff Pearson on peg 1.
Only two pictures today – of the victor with his two nets….The results sheet is also shown for those of you who like to know the details.
Many thanks to Mark Evans for running the match in the [expected] absence of Fred!
The next[and final] leg of the series is on Wednesday 17th September, and will probably be at Home Farm [to be confirmed]. A ‘sign-up’ post will appear on the Club’s Facebook Page due course.
