MATCH RESULT – Inter Club

Wednesday 24th September

INTER-CLUB V’S BISHOPS STORTFORD AND DISTRICT ANGLING SOCIETY [BSDAS]

Home leg @ Bordeaux Pit

Today we were at HOME for the fourth and final round of our 2025 four-match series against BSDAS.

After the early threat of a few showers, it turned out to be a fairly bright and breezy day. Some of us who know the lake saw that the wind was forecast to be mainly from the north east and we feared the worst as Bordeaux never seems to fish well when the wind comes from that quarter. We hoped this day would be the exception, but as the weights show, it only reinforced our expectations for future days

Everyone struggled. The weights were truly abysmal. Carp were to count at a flat rate of five pounds if over the net limit of two pound. It did not really matter as, once again, only one was caught on the day, from the same peg as in the last match by some strange coincidence.

BSDAS ran out as winners by 48 points to our 56. They take the series 4-0 as a result – Well done chaps!

Individual placings:

1st Rob Calderon [BSDAS Peg 33 5lb 05oz

2nd Fred Hunt [SWAC] Peg 1 2lb 12oz

3rd Steve Foster [BSDAS] Peg 36 1lb 09oz

4th John Todd [BSDAS} Peg 12 1lb 08oz

Silvers only:

Clive Bradford [SWAC] Peg 25 2lb 08oz

Rob Calderon won the day for BSDAS with 5lb 05oz on peg 33, which included the only carp banked on the day [counting as 5lb]. It took him a fair while to get in , but provided good entertainment for those of us who could see him, as there was bugger all else going on. He would have been in 11th place without the carp!

Fred Hunt framed second for SWAC with 2lb 12oz from peg 1, which included the wonky fan-tailed crucian hybrid that pops up regularly at about 2lb. He snared this at 14 metres from over the top of the lillies…..

Steve Foster with 1lb 09oz, and John Todd with 1lb 08oz, completed the frame, both from BSDAS and in pegs 36 and 12 respectively. Their nets comprised a couple of chub and ide and some very small rudd.

Clive Bradford would have been in third place, but he took the ‘Silvers Crown’ for the day with 2lb 08oz from peg 25 and so forfeited his place in the frame.

The results sheet is below for those of you morbidly interested in it. There are only a few weigh-in photos as there were two sets of scales – but only one camera….. The ‘action shot’ of the day is of a forlorn looking Graham Carter on peg 35, where he opted to fish on the feeder for the whole match…..no further comment needed.

The next Club Match is this Sunday – the 28th September and we are making the short trip to Rockell’s Farm at Duddenoe End. There are still a few spaces available…..
