MATCH RESULT – Long Pond [Clare]

Sunday 19th October

Today saw us make the last of our three visits for this year to Long Pond. Sixteen anglers comfortably fitted around the lake, with three of the less favoured pegs left out of the draw. [Pegs 1, 6 & 10 for those wishing to know the geography – see map below].

It was a pretty grey old day, but not too chilly. The threatened rain materialised at about 1pm, but relented slightly for the weigh-in, before returning in time for the results and pay-out.

RESULTS:

1st. Ashley Kinsey [Peg 4] 17lb 08oz

2nd. Daniel Porter [Peg 7] 15lb 15oz

3rd. Peter Freestone [Peg 12] 12lb 01oz

Sec 1 [Pegs 2 – 7] Peter Warren [Peg 2] 10lb 10oz

Sec 2 [Pegs 8 -13] Sandy Dickson [Peg 9] 9lb 09oz

Sec 3 [Pegs 14 -19] Doug Richmond [Peg 17] 9lb 03oz

The lake fished tougher than the last match, with catch rates dwindling as the rain set in. Leaves were also falling quite heavily, making presentation difficult in some pegs. The full results sheet appears below for the number-crunchers amongst you.

Ashley Kinsey was the clear winner on the in-form peg 4 with 17lb 08oz of mostly skimmers and roach caught steadily thoughout the day, with the occasional interference from a number of the rogue carp. Well fished Ashley – worth braving the rain with no brolly!

Daniel Porter was just a pound and a half behind on peg 7 with 15lb 15oz, agaln with some decent skimmers and roach. Peter Freestone completed the frame in third from the other side of the lake on peg 12 with 12lb 01oz.

The three sections were won by Peter Warren, Sandy Dickson and Doug Richmond respectively.

Three participants skedaddled before the weigh in as the drizzle intensified, and after the weigh in, the car park emptied faster than an Formula One starting grid. Sandy Dickson was in such a rush that he missed his section 2 pay-out! [Passed to Daniel Porter for safe keeping until next weekend – at the same venue I believe?].

Some of the pictures below are a bit blurry due to the rain…

The final Club match of the year will be on Sunday 16th November and will be at Lawn Farm [Willow lake]. The usual reminder post will appear on the Facebook page, two weeks before the event.

This will be Fred Hunt’s last match in charge, as he is standing down as Match Secretary.
