Sunday 16th November
Lawn Farm – Willow Lake [SILVERS ONLY]
Today saw us fish the last of our planned Club Matches for this year.
A near full house of twenty three anglers were spaced around the lake, with the less favoured pegs left out of the draw.
It was a pretty grey and chilly old day, but but at least it stayed dry after the deluge of the previous couple of days.
RESULTS:
1st. Dean Williams [Peg 30] 24lb 03oz
2nd. Doug Richmond [Peg 32] 19lb 02oz
3rd. Craig Griffiths [Peg 22] 19lb 01oz
4th Kevin Watkins [Peg 5] 17lb 07oz
Sec 1 [Pegs 3 – 8] Peter Warren [Peg 8] 13lb 08oz
Sec 2 [Pegs 12-22] Ashley Kinsey [Peg 15] 12lb 03oz
Sec 3 [Pegs 26 – 32] David Forbes [Peg 28] 14lb 00oz
Sec 4 [Pegs 33-37] Daniel Porter [Peg 36] 14lb 01oz
Pleasingly for the last match, everyone weighed in, so none of the dreaded ‘DNW’s’ spoling the results sheet. The lower number pegs did not fish as well as expected, with most of the bigger weights comming from the higher numbered pegs.
Dean Williams was the clear winner with 23lb 03oz from peg 30, a whole 4lbs clear of runner-up Doug Richmond, just next door on peg 32, with 19lb 02oz.
Just one ounce beind was Craig Griffiths on peg 32 with 19lb 01oz. Kevin Watkins was in fourth with 17lb 07oz fom peg 5, completing a clean sweep of the podium places for the AK Match Team boys, fishing like the national chmpions that they are.
With four sections, won by Peter Warren, Ashley Kinsey, David Forbes and Daniel Porter, Fred maintained his ‘nearly everyone’s a winner ‘ policy of paying out to a third of the participants.
As previously mentioned, it was Fred Hunt’s last match in charge as Match Secretary, and Dinan Gunawardena [Club Secretary] did a brief presentation of the Life Membership awarded to him by the Club for his fifty years of service. This was done at the weigh in of the last peg, so may have been missed by some of the guys who may have expected it to be done at the payout.
Thanks for all your efforts over the years Fred; very much appreciated by all of us.

Fred was grateful to Dennis Gowlett, Pip Kerry and Dinan for helping with weigh in today. He will still be running his informal ‘Knock-up’ matches at Bordeaux from time to time.
Ashley Kinsey has now taken over as Match Secretary and we will post the new programme of matches on the web-site and on Clubmate as soon as the matches are booked.
