UPDATE FROM THE COMMITTEE

Following this week’s Committee Meeting there are a few bits of news to update you with, as well as some plans for the future, and a little bit of a look back as well.

Firstly, some ‘house-keeping’….. There have been a few changes to the Committee. As some of you will already know, Fred Hunt has stepped down as Match Secretary. His place has been taken by ASHLEY KINSEY, whom many of you will already know.

Chris Monk has also stood down from the Committee due to work commitments preventing him from attending meetings. This means we had two vacancies to fill and we have co-opted STEWART GODDARD an DAVE MORGAN into the hot-seats.

The final change is that Dinan Guawardena is stepping back from being Club Secretary due to other commitments, though he is keeping hold of the purse-strings and staying on as Treasurer. TREVOR KAPPES will be taking on the role of Club Secretary, with effect from January.

On behalf of the Club, many thanks of course to those departing, and welcome and good luck to the newbies!

In the next month or so we will be taking delivery of some premium sized Bream for both Bordeaux and Whittlesford, and we are very hopeful of being able to share some more good news about the stocking of other silver fish into Bordeaux in the near future. As members already know, we recently took delivery of a new [and very good looking] ‘Target Fish’ for Whittlesford, to replace the sadly departed ‘White-Tip’.

During the colder months, we will be undertaking some significant work on Longmoor Lake [Whittlesford]. This will involve the use of a digger to create some more ramps from the lake so that some heavy-duty weed clearing can be done whilst the plants are dormant. This will mean that a few swims may be closed off for a short period of time. Please bear with us whilst we undertake this essential work.

At Bordeaux, there are no plans for any significant works, particularly now the Small Lake’s engineering works are complete. There will be some minor works to maintain and enhance the existing pegs and paths around the Main Lake, so there may be some noise from time to time.

For later in the New Year, the Regional Development Manager from the Angling Trust [AT] will be running some junior coaching sessions on the Small Lake at Bordeaux. Full details will be on the AT ‘Get Fishing’ website. All great publicity for the Club.

The Committee is working hard to move the Club forward, but we are always grateful for any help that members may be able to offer. Committee members are often on the banks working, and sometimes even fishing. Feel free to chat with us and we’ll be happy to tell you more, and hopefully rope you in.
