LONGMOOR LAKE – IMPROVEMENTS

Another damp and dismal day gave the Whittlesford Pixies a chance to show their many skills as the work to transform the venue continues at pace.

A new wooden fence panel is now in place from the left of gate and the posh green mesh fencing is being dug in and extended along the boundary ditch to the left of the lake. This required the removal of two massive concrete slabs that had been buried for may years and were well and truly rooted in place. They now form an ‘interesting feature’ in he lake, to the right of the old ‘Handys’ peg.

Conifer mulch has been laid over the turned over area and along the path, with more of this is to follow. This is to help soak up some of the excess water that is beginning to seep up as the levels rise after all the recent rain.

Several more of the large tree stumps have also been removed to the right of the extending car park area.

Today’s very Productive Pixies were Tony Holmes, James Morgan, Trevor Kappes, John Wilson and Scott Head. Another good effort all round.

If you are one of those members who has steered clear of Longmoor Lake for whatever reason, maybe make some time to stop by for a look around. We think you will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of progress that has been made on improving the venue.
